The service was so named because it was originally designed to provide search results in the form of an ordered list, or what is more commonly known as a "listicle". Articles for this service are typically written by invited columnists, giving the articles more cohesion than other services. The company wrote in its announcement that it wants to create something that's both ambitious and positive. This article shows how to use Google Fonts API to show an example of Web typography using custom fonts!A great website should be informative and look good too. We're building just that. Slideshare is a place to read and share brilliant ideas, explore topics you're passionate about, and discover the latest trends in business and technology. Deciding on a name for a startup can be a daunting task. Justin Matejka helps entrepreneurs with their naming concepts to help them create a memorable, effective name. If you're interested in getting a free consultation on a Name, Email address: jmatejka@slideshare.net Within the first hour of posting the announcement on Facebook, SlideShare’s CEO was receiving comments from people asking if it was real or fake. In fact one user commented “It’s not real?” as I was writing this blog post. This new startup’s name and domain name: Slideshare.net (it was registered on May 24, 2009) is different from the former SlideShare.net that was launched in 2006 and had no obvious connection with Google. Starting on December 12 of 2009, SlideShare started to offer free PowerPoint presentations to its members who invited their friends to the site. This offer lasted for two weeks and granted “SlideShareers” extra space if they referred new users whom came up with their own PowerPoint presentations. This offer was meant to reward loyal users for recommending SlideShare to new people. “SlideShare.net is open to the public, but the presentations are not. Anyone can use SlideShare. The identity of any customer or user is not revealed,” said the blog post that was published in November 12, 2009. This statement explains why SlideShare started offering free PowerPoint presentations to its members in December 2009, but it did not disclose this fact when they announced their beta launch of free presentation service three months prior to the service’s launch on December 12. The beta period lasted for two weeks during Dec2009 and Jan2010 During this period, people who tried out SlideShare were able to view their presentations in private mode by signing up for premium accounts. The press release that was published in October 2009 (which SlideShare posted on Slideshare Blog) did not mention that presentations would be private during the beta period. After the beta period ended in January 2010, SlideShare kept the free service active for all of its users until they announced their next big update on May 20, 2011. SlideShare was acquired by LinkedIn in 2012.The latest update which immediately followed the acquisition of SlideShare by LinkedIn is a new homepage design where users can upload, view, share and embed PowerPoint presentations. This service is similar to Google Presentations except that it allows more creative freedom with its presentation templates. cfa1e77820
